George Galpin, former MP, and CEO of global steel manufacturer SMED Ltd is brutally murdered in his country mansion outside Deal in Kent. His family insist the killers are members of an activist group picketing the house, bringing media attention to the victim’s part in the collapse of the company pension fund, when Galpin was CEO of SMED Ltd.
The activists, members of the fifty thousand strong, nationwide Pension Victims Action Group (PVAG); their aim, to compel the Government to recognize injustice in pension loss and compensate them. As the police investigation begins, conducted by Detective Chief Inspector Baptie, as SIO (Senior Investigating Officer), more murders occur, this time of pension loss victims; can it be revenge or is there no connection?
Inspector Sean Daley, in charge of policing the Kent coastal town of Deal, is no friend of Baptie; and convinced the SIO is following the wrong evidence they are in conflict immediately.
Lacking any confidence in Baptie; Daley, with a small team of loyal colleagues, forced to act independently and covertly, uncover a wider conspiracy involving the collapse of SMED Ltd, linking it to the hijack of a multi-million £ US Army shipment of weapons to Iraq.
